I’m a pastors kid, he’s my “lumberjack”…beard and all… I love anything and everything artistic, I’m a cosmetologist and I have my own candle business. He’s a graphic designer, has his own photography and media business, and those are just his side jobs. We met when I was almost 16… He was my first boyfriend. My first kiss. Took me to prom. We were high school sweethearts… Now fast forward and we’ve been happily married for 8 years and have a polka-dotted fur baby, Crosley. We live in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota and we just got our own little slice of paradise!
Our dream for a few years was to have our own property that we could build our own home on, have some room to garden, eventually get livestock, chickens… let the dog out and run freely, and have our own hiking area right there on the acreage. Not too big of a dream right?…
Two words.
Miracles. Happen.
We aren’t saying that this whole process was easy, it really wasn’t. We were tested, and tried. Things were hard. We were strapped. We ate Ramen and hot dogs and very, very cheap food for days. We rented out my brothers camper and stayed there through the winter… That was the hardest part. At the time we had two dogs in two kennels in a somewhat small camper. We were definitely going through some changes and I had just got a new job at an amazing salon. Things were different! But all the while we were trying our very best to trust God for this dream of ours!
We had moved out of town, from the “normal”. I had my in-home salon and was growing my candle business, Sparrow Candle Co. and we kept getting the itch for privacy and freedom… that meant the hills! That meant selling our home, closing up shop and looking for a place to live (which all happened very fast!) and planning/designing our home. I look back on all of this and I’m just so thankful! I know we both are… Thankful for God positioning our steps. Thankful for Him steadying us even when things got stressful. So thankful for my dad and mom for helping us and guiding us with their wisdom and ideas. And we are thankful for each other! Thankful that we respected each
So welcome! Here at The Sparrow
